STEPHON MARBURY
Stephon Marbury is a loser. He was the main reason for Team USA’s terrible performance in the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Marbury has also failed at every stop of his NBA career. Teams like the Timberwolves, Nets and Suns have improved dramatically in the standings just by getting rid of the selfish, egomaniacal point guard.
Not only did Marbury virtually single-handedly destroy American basketball in 2004, but he’s a big reason the NBA’s New York Knicks are in such a sorry state. Counting this year’s upcoming salary, Marbury has received over $97 million from the Knicks since 2004.
In 2006, not being content with simply destroying Team USA and one of the NBA’s most storied franchises, Marbury set his sight on the corporate world. He signed a contract with sporting goods company Steve & Barry’s. The deal was to promote a new line of shoes and clothing bearing his “Starbury” nickname.
The centerpiece of the deal was Marbury’s idea for a $14.98 sneaker. The Marbury shoes were so uncool that Steve & Barry’s is now bankrupt. Surprise! Marbury is such a loser he is capable of bringing down major corporations as well as NBA franchises with his mere presence.
Newsday ran a story today about Steve & Barry’s stiffing Marbury on some $2 million in royalty checks.
Good for them.
