The are reports that tv talk show host Elisabeth Hasselbeck of The View is “really upset” about being the show’s only conservative. Tired of fighting with liberal co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, she is supposedly being offered her own show on Fox News.
TOM CABLE
The Oakland Raiders finally pulled the trigger and fired beleagured head coach Lane Kiffin today.
Kiffin’s replacement is Tom Cable who was named interim coach of the Raiders. Cable has a horrifically bad record as a head coach. He was 11-35 with the University of Idaho from 2000-2003. Idaho is, of course, the alma mater of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. She was at the school when the Vandals were voted the country’s Number One party school by Playboy magazine.

Raider fans will be encouraged to know that Idaho is the same school that famously produced Tom Walsh. He’s the bed-and-breakfast coordinator who ran Art Shell’s offense.
Idaho is also the coaching tree where Scott Linehan got his start. He was Idaho’s starting quarterback under Dennis Erickson.

RICHARD COLLIER
The NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars finally revealed the condition of injured offensive lineman Richard Collier at a press conference today.
It turns out Collier was shot 14 times in a September attack. Two of those bullets entered his spine and Collier is currently paralyzed. Collier also had the bottom of his left leg amputated due to complications. The Jaguars say Collier’s NFL career is over. He is still listed in critical condition by the hospital.
RANDY JOHNSON: WAS SUNDAY HIS LAST GAME WITHD-BACKS?
Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Randy Johnson finished his 2008 season on an an incredibly high note on Sunday. In Arizona’s last game of the year, the 44-year-old Johnson threw a complete game two-hitter in the Diamondback’s 2-1 win over Colorado.
The victory was the 295th of Johnson’s career. He hopes to return to some Major League team next season in hopes of picking up his 300th career win. Johnson is a free agent after this season.
BOXER SHANE MOSLEY KNOCKS OUT RICARDO MAYORGA SATURDAY NIGHT
Saturday’s win may not have been the most impressive of boxer “Sugar” Shane Mosley’s career but It certainly was the most well-timed.
Mosley defeated fading veteran Ricardo Mayorga in California Saturday night with a literal last-second knockout. Mosley knocked Mayorga out with exactly one second left in the twelfth and final round of their junior middleweight fight.
Although he struggled to put Mayorga away, Saturday’s win by Mosley sets him up for a possible big payday and a potential fight with Antonio Margarito.

Saying it’s time for “fresh thinking,” the Seattle Mariners may be thinking of hiring the first female general manager in baseball history.
Mariners president Chuck Armstrong recently praised Los Angeles Dodgers assistant GM Kim Ng. Ng has applied for the job as Mariners general manager. She formerly worked for the New York Yankees and apparently was the runner-up when Ned Coletti got the job as Los Angeles Dodgers GM. Ng formally interviewed for the Mariners job earlier this year and is expected to be brought back soon for a second interview.
ED HOCHULI
It seems like just the other day that NFL referee Ed Hochuli screwed up a call in the Broncos/Chargers game. Actually, it WAS just the other day that Hochuli screwed up. Now, he’s at it again.
Hochuli was involved in another controversial call in today’s Carolina/Atlanta game. Hochuli flagged Panthers defensive lineman Julius Peppers for roughing-the-passer on a play that wiped out a Carolina interception that was returned for a touchdown.
