STEPHEN A. SMITH: QUITE FRANKLY, HE’LL BE LUCKY TO GET ANOTHER JOB
The website The Big Lead is reporting that controversial broadcaster Stephen A. Smith will soon be departing ESPN. Smith’s contract with ESPN expires after the NBA playoffs. It will not be renewed.
It was not that long ago that Smith was a multimedia superstar. He had his own television show on ESPN, a radio gig and his columns ran in the Philadelphia Enquirer. However, following Mark Shapiro’s departure from ESPN, Smith’s tv show was cancelled. His star has been falling ever since. He was fired as a newspaper columnist in 2008 and his ESPN radio show was likewise dropped. Smith will be removed from shows like First Take and be completely off ESPN within six weeks.
