GILBERT ARENAS AND JAVARIS CRITTENTON
Several news outlets are reporting that Washington Wizards teammates Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton pulled guns on each other in the team’s locker room. The incident apparently happened on Christmas Eve and was over a gambling debt that Arenas owed to Crittenton. The Washington Post says the amount Arenas owes Crittenton is $25,000. ESPN is reporting that Arenas lost the money to Crittenton in a card game.
The New York Post says Arenas drew first. There is talk of suspensions coming for both players or even voiding Arenas’ contract. That might be the least of Arenas’ problems. One report says D.C. Metro Police and even the Feds are being called in to investigate the incident.
Union head Billy Hunter, of the NBA Player’s Association, isn’t even denying the confrontion happened saying, “This is unprecedented in the history of sports. I’ve never heard of players pulling guns on each other in a locker room.”
Yeah, no crap! The Wizards had actually made a suspicious announcement on Christmas day about Arenas turning his unloaded guns over to team security.
Fanhouse.com says the Wizards aren’t likely to void Arenas’ contract which still has $96 million remaining on it over the next five years. Arenas had signed a six-year $111 million contract with the Wizards in July of 2008.
Ironically, Wizards owner Abe Pollin, who died last month, changed the franchise’s nickname from “Bullets” to “Wizards” in 1997 because he abhorred gun violence.

Gilbert is a good kid, the facts that came out in the police report exonerate him (a little bit). He made a stupid joke, but Crittenton took it too far. Another good story on Gil:
