MATT MILLEN
If you’ve been watching through the third full day of NFL Draft coverage on ESPN, at some point you’ve probably asked yourself, “Why are they having the worst general manager in NFL history provide “expert” commentary?”
Yet, there he is, doing commentary on ESPN, Matt Millen. Millen is the recently failed GM of the Detroit Lions. Bloggers and traditional media critics alike had literally asked the question, “How in God’s name can ANYONE pay Matt Millen (the worst drafter in the history of the National FOOTBALL league and architecht of an 0-16 team) to comment about the NFL Draft?” Is there no sense of shame? Shouldn’t Millen recuse himself from any commentary on the draft since he obviously knows less about it than anyone whoever lived?
And that was before Saturday. During today’s ESPN coverage of rounds 4-7 of the NFL Draft, Millen proved that in addition to being the worst front office guy in league history, he is also one of the worst announcers of all-time. Millen called his ESPN colleague, Ron “The Polish Rifle” Jaworski, a “Polack” on-the-air during live television programming.
Assuming they were ever in vogue, “Polack” jokes probably went out of style some time in the ’70s following Archie Bunker. Within minutes, Millen was forced to go back onscreen to apologize.
