ACTUAL PHOTO OF BRETT FAVRE’S ANKLE FOLLOWING NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Stop me if you’ve heard this before
ESPN is reporting that Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre is wavering on his decision to return to the club for the 2010 season or simply retire. That’s not exactly news. What ESPN did find out is that Favre must undergo ankle surgery to play this upcoming season. Favre injured the ankle in a loss to the New Orleans Saints in the 2009 NFC Championship Game.
Favre’s ankle is reportedly still swollen three months following the NFC Championship.
* Update: Following the ESPN story by Ed Werder, Favre revealed on his personal website that the ankle procedure he would have to undergo is “minor.” After consulting famed orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews, Favre says a major ankle operation is unnecessary and his surgery would be “not debilitating.” However, Favre did not reveal whether or not he is returning to the Vikings for the 2010 season.
