THE PLAY THAT WRECKED HANLEY RAMIREZ’S MARLINS CAREER
The drama continues between All-Star shortstop Hanley Ramirez and his Florida Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez. Gonzalez pulled Ramirez Monday after he failed to hustle after a ground ball that he booted in a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Ramirez had painfully fouled a ball off his shin earlier in the game.
On Tuesday, Ramirez literally added insult to injury. He snidely blasted Gonzalez saying,
“It’s his team. He does whatever he f—ing wants. There’s nothing I can do about it. It’s brutal. That’s okay. he doesn’t understand that. He never played in the big leagues.”
Ramirez was blasted by teammate Wes Helms. It was fellow Marlins infielder Dan Uggla who criticized him for lack of hustle last year. Ramirez has refused to apologize to Gonzalez or his teammates.
