BULLFIGHTER CHRISTIAN HERNANDEZ RUNS AWAY FROM BULL AND JUMPS OVER THE WALL (YES, HE’S WEARING PINK)
Sunday, bullfighter Christian Hernandez of Mexico made global news as the world’s most cowardly matador. Hernandez took one look at the bull and literally ran away, jumping over a wall for safety.
Hernandez’s act was so cowardly that police on the scene ARRESTED him for “breach of contract.” He paid a fine, was forced to return to the ring and fled AGAIN. Hernandez admitted he no longer “had the balls” to be a bullfighter.
The full video of the debacle was released yesterday:
ON THE OTHER HAND, HE AVOIDED THIS
At 12 years old, Michel Lagravere is already a legend in Mexico. Lagravere is the world’s youngest bullfighter and has already developed quite a following.
Sunday, Lagravere was injured (though not seriously) when he stumbled in the bullring and was stomped on by an 845 pound bull.
Texas Rangers shortstop Omar Vizquel is 42. That’s a little old to still be playing baseball, but probably too young to start his bucket list. Nevertheless, Vizquel says he plans on becoming a matador this offseason. Vizquel says he will start his bullfighting training this winter.
Last winter, Vizquel spent his offseason catching giant anaconda snakes in the Venezuelan jungle.
FRANCISCO RIVERA ORDONEZ
There is a “controversy” brewing in bullfighting. A group of matadors is “livid” over an award presented to Spanish bullfighter Francisco Rivera Ordonez. Critics say Rivera Ordonez won the coveted Fine Arts award from Spain’s Culture Ministry not because of his abilities in the ring, but because of his talent for making magazine covers and the gossip sections of newspapers and magazines. He is now dating a former Miss Spain.
Rivera Ordonez is a member of the most famous bullfighting family in Spain’s history. His grandfather was Ernest Hemingway’s favorite bullfighter and Orson Welles had his ashes scattered in his garden after he died. Rivera Ordonez’s father was famously killed in the ring in 1984.
MICHELITO LAGRAVERE PENICHE
An 11-year-old boy became the youngest matador in history to kill six bulls in a single performance this weekend.
The Mexican boy, Michelito Lagravere Peniche, is the son of a French bullfighter. A VIDEO of his kills was submitted to the Guiness Book of Records. The youngster is already a legend in the bullfighting community. He killed his first bull in the ring at the age of 4.
Animal rights groups are howling over this weekend’s spectacle which took place in southern Mexico.
Here is a lengthy video tribute to Michelito Lagravere which shows him getting dressed, praying and fighting bulls- it was put out by Yucatan TV:
