STRAIGHT UP OR ON THE ROCKS?
Sports Illustrated’s L. Jon Wertheim has a book coming out on the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The book focuses on the violent aspects of UFC and is entitled “Blood in the Cage.”
Wertheim also compliments UFC on its “diversity” and highlights some of the sport’s colorful figures. The fighters Wertheim writes about include Luke Cummo, who he calls “far and away the most unique fighter” he met .
What are some of the things that make Cummo unique?
Well, for starters, he trains by drinking his own urine. Seriously.
Cummo is a proponent of urine therapy. He practices “urine recycling” by continually drinking his own urine to “cleanse” his system before a fight. Cummo says he used to mix the urine with honey but now just drinks it fresh because “that’s when it’s most delicious.”
