Biggest crowd in UFC history

UFC 129, featuring the return of Georges St. Pierre, takes place in Toronto later tonight. The event has already set the record for the largest crowd in UFC history, with some 55,000 tickets sold.

St. Pierre battles former Elite XC and Strikeforce champJake sields for the UFC welterweight title. St.Pierre is considered by many as the best fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championship while Shields hasn’t lost since 2004.

Also on the UFC 129 card is the final match of legendary fighter Randy Couture’s career. Couture is entering The Octagon one final time, at the age of 47, to take on Lyota Machida. Jose Aldo defends his UFC featherweight title for the first time as well.

GSP DOMINATES

Georges St. Pierre is still the UFC welterweight champion following what may have been his most dominant performance yet. St. Pierre destroyed Josh Kosheck with a unanimous decision at UFC 124 in Montreal Saturday. All three judges scored the fight 50-45 in favor of the defending champion.

Stefan Struve, Mac Danzig and Jim and Dan Miller also won their UFC 124 matches.

JOSH KOSHECK AT UFC 124 WEIGH-IN

UFC 124 takes places tonight in Montreal. A rematch between welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and Josh Kosheck is at the top of the card. Kosheck is the last man to even win a round against St. Pierre. That was in August of 2007 when St. Pierre got the unanimous decision. Since then, St. Pierre has dispatched a litany of fighters including Matt Hughes, B.J. Penn, Matt Serra, Jon Fitch, Thiago Alves, and Dan Hardy.

St. Pierre was recently named by MMA Junkie as their 2010 Fighter of the Year. He won multiple similar awards in 2009. St. Pierre is also currently ranked as the #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world by Yahoo! Sports.

Other matches on the UFC 124 card include Sean McCorkle vs Stefan Struve and Mac Danzig taking on Joe Stevenson. Thiago Alves, Joe Doerksen, Dan Miller and Dustin Hazelett aare also fighting.

GEORGES ST. PIERRE SCORES ANOTHER EASY VICTORY

Georges St.Pierre defeated Dan Hardy with a unanimous five round decision at UFC 111 in Newark, New Jersey Saturday night.

Also Saturday, Shane Carwin defeated Frank Mir for the interim UFC heavyweight championship. Carwin will now get a shot at the real heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar who is returning from injury.

Jon Fitch, Nate Diaz and Kurt Pellegrino were other winners on the UFC 111 card.

LESNAR AND ST. PIERRE SCORE EASY WINS AT UFC 100

GEORGES ST. PIERRE DESTROYS THIAGO ALVES AT UFC 100

Georges St. Pierre scored an impressive win over Thiago Alves, winning every single round in the most impressive performance at an historic UFC 100 Saturday night in Las Vegas. Also Saturday, Brock Lesnar won the UFC heavyweight championship with a second round knockout of Frank Mir. Lesnar pounded Mir in the second round.

Former Pride star Dan Henderson, who has had his struggles in UFC, destroyed British fighter Michael Bisping. Henderson knocked Bisping out with a vicious right then caught him with an elbow before referee mario Yamasaki called the fight. Bisping had previously bragged about never having been knocked out.

Also Saturday, Mark Coleman decisioned Stephan Bonnar and Yoshihiro Akiyama beat Alan Belcher.

ST. PIERRE DOMINATES AT UFC 94

The last time Georges St. Pierre and B.J. Penn fought the result was a razor thin split decision win for GSP. This time it wasn’t nearly as close.

St. Pierre battered Penn for a victory at UFC 94 in Las Vegas Saturday night. Doctors stopped the fight before the fifth round. With the victory, St. Pierre retains his UFC welterweight championship. Penn was attempting to become the first UFC fighter to hold a belt in two weight classes. He remains the UFC lightweight champion.

Lyoto Machida, Karo Parisyan, Jon Jones and Jon Fitch also won their fights on Saturday night’s card which was held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

UFC 94 SET FOR THIS WEEKEND IN LAS VEGAS

GEORGES ST. PIERRE AND B.J. PENN

UFC lightweight champion B.J. Penn looks to become the organization’s first fighter to hold two championship belts at the same time as he takes on Georges St. Pierre in UFC 94 this weekend. The event will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas Saturday night.

Penn narrowly lost to St. Pierrefor the UFC welterweight title in their last meeting. Penn then moved down to 155 pounds and captured the lightweight title.

Thiago Silva, Nate Diaz, Jon Fitch and Thiago Tavares are also on the card. UFC 94 also marks the return of injury-riddled Stephan Bonner.
