NOT AGAIN!

GREG ODEN

Stop me if you’ve heard this before. Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden is going to miss the entire season with a knee injury. Of a possible 328 NBA games, Oden will have played in a total of 82. That means Oden has missed 3/4 of his pro career with injuries.

Oden will have microfracture surgery on his left knee. He had already had the same surgery previously on his right knee and that doesn’t even count the patella tendon injury that caused him to miss most of last year.

The story goes that Oden was sexting a woman who then plastered the picture all over the Internet. To see the (alleged) picture of Greg Oden naked:

ANOTHER CATASTROPHIC GREG ODEN INJURY

December 6, 2009

GREG ODEN

Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden’s already injury plagued career took a horrific turn for the worse Saturday night when he suffered what appeared to be a season-ending knee injury. Oden fractured his left patella in a win over the Houston Rockets and had to be removed from the floor with a stretcher.

The 13-8 Blazers appeared to be a lock for the playoffs before Oden’s injury. Now, Oden is in danger of joining Bill Walton and Sam Bowie as another Portland franchise center whose career is doomed by an unending series of injuries. This is the second time in three professional seasons that Oden will be out for the year with a knee injury. By the end of this season, he will have played in only 103 of 246 possible games in his pro career.

Oden’s injury is particularly sad because he worked out dilligently this offseason in an effort to avoid injuries. He was averaging 11.1 points-per-game, 8.5 rebounds, playing stellar defense and shooting .605 from the floor.

GREG ODEN

It certainly wasn’t a superstar performance, but Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden finally managed a respectable NBA outing. Oden played half the game (24 minutes) and had a double-double in Portland’s 87-82 loss to Charlotte Friday night. Oden finished the game with 11 points and 11 rebounds. he was a perfect 3-3 from the field.

It was only Oden’s third career NBA game since being drafted number one overall by the Trail Blazers in the 2007 draft 17 months ago. Friday’s game was by far Oden’s best outing.
