DUMBEST BASEBALL INJURY OF THE YEAR

KENDRY MORALES BREAKS LEG DURING CELEBRATION AFTER HITTING GAME-WINNING GRAND SLAM

The Los Angeles Angels lost their top hitter Saturday to one of the most bizarre injuries in baseball history. Kendry Morales had just hit a game-winning grand slam giving the Angels a 5-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners. As Morales crossed the plate, he was mobbed by teammates in celebration. Unfortunately, sometime during that celebration Morales’ teammates became a little too exuberant. Somehow while he was on the bottom of the celebration pile, Morales ended up breaking his leg. He is out indefinitely.

CORRECTION Angels Pitcher Killed Baseball

ANDREW THOMAS GALLO

It has been reported all day that Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart was the victim of a drunk driver. The rookie was killed Wednesday night after his vehicle was struck by a car driven by 22-year-old Andrew Thomas Gallo. Police say Gallo was drunk at the time of the accident. He was arrested on DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges.

It turns out that Gallo had already been convicted of drunk driving. The court fined him $1,400. Gallo was also busted with marijuana while he was in the first-offender alcohol program. Gallo’s previous DUI conviction means that he could be charged with second degree murder in Adenhart’s death.

DARREN OLIVER

Los Angeles Angels pitcher Darren Oliver is the latest Major League Baseball player to reveal he has had his financial assets frozen while federal authorities investigate the Stanford Group. Oliver joins Johnny Damon, Xavier Nady, Mike Pelfrey, Jacob Ellsbury, Carlos Pena, Adrian Beltre, Scott Eyre and a host of unnamed players who have had their money grabbed by the Feds. Some, like Eyre, have had their entire life savings seized by the government.

Oliver says he has been assured that he will get his money back. What will he do next?

Oliver says when he gets his money back he’s going to “bury it in the back yard.” He didn’t sound like he was kidding.
