One minute CNN anchor Rick Sanchez was on a satellite radio show whining about how Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert of Comedy Central mock him and treat him badly. Suddenly, the conversation took a turn for the worse.
Sanchez was appearing on “Stand Up! with Pete Dominick” on XM/Sirius when he started bashing “media elites” and accused Stewart of being a “bigot.” When Dominick pointed out that Stewart himself was a minority, because he’s Jewish, Sanchez responded,
“Yeah. Yeah. Very powerless people. Please. What, are you kidding? I’m telling you that everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart, and a lot of people who run all the other networks are a lot like Stewart. And to imply that they – the people in this country who are Jewish – are an oppressed minority. Yeah.”
By late Friday night CNN had fired Sanchez, announcing he was “no longer with the company.”
Recently, Colbert had mocked Sanchez for supporting his upcoming Washington rally and showed video of Sanchez being tasered.
