IN ADDITION TO ASSISTANT COACHES, RAIDERS COACH TOM CABLE BEAT LOTS OF WOMEN

Three women who were involved in past relationships with Oakland Raiders coach Tom Cable say he physically abused them. The allegations of domestic abuse were made by both of Cable’s ex-wives and revealed by the ESPN tv show “Outside the Lines.”

Cable’s first wife and a recent girlfriend both went on-camera to accuse Cable of physical abuse. A third woman, Cable’s recently-divorced second wife, did not go on the air but alleged domestic abuse by the coach in her divorce papers. She has actually come forth to defend Cable since the story broke of his “history of violence.”

“Outside the Lines” says that history of violence by Cable against women dates back to the 1980′s and has continued with incidents against the former girlfriend happening recently. The show investigated Cable’s “anger” issues after he apparently broke the jaw of assistant coach Randy Hanson this summer.

DOWN GOES CABLE

The fact that Al Davis is a cheap and incompetent owner is once again going to bite the Oakland Raiders in the ass. Reports are coming out that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is considering suspending Raiders coach Tom Cable for punching an assistant in the face and breaking his jaw during training camp.

In fact, according to Fox Sports, Cable is already scheduled to be taken to the woodshed. Goodell says he has a meeting scheduled with Cable and the incident will not be swept “under the rug.”

Fired Raiders assistant coach Randy Hanson told Napa, California police that Cable punched him in the face, breaking his jaw. Hanson is also suing the Raiders. His lawyer called the incident a “textbook case of felony assault.”

Goodell may be the least of Cable’s problems. Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the Raiders’ coach may face serious criminal charges.

Is there a doubt that ANY other NFL organization would have done a better job of handling this? What team wouldn’t have paid off Hanson to make him go away? Instead, mainly because the Raiders haven’t addressed it, the situation has gotten to the point where Cable now faces suspension.

Ridiculous.

TOM CABLE: BAD COACH, GOOD RIGHT CROSS

TOM CABLE

Tom Cable may not be much of a football coach but he sure can punch! Reports are the Oakland Raiders head coach hit one of his assistant coaches in the face earlier this month. Several stories say Cable socked 31-year-old defensive backs coach Randy Hanson on August 5th, breaking his jaw.

The story blew up on the Internet yesterday but quickly migrated to the mainstream press. It was initially reported by the National Post. The alleged incident happened weeks ago at the Raiders headquarters in Napa Valley. AOL Fanhouse confirmed the story of Cable punching Hanson but implied it was a cheap shot saying, “Hanson never saw it coming.”

Pro Football Talk reports that Raiders players were chanting “Cable, Bumaye!” at practice Monday. The phrase is a takeoff on the famous chant in Zaire from the Ali/Foreman fight in the ’70s.

TOM CABLE: BITING HIS FINGERNAILS AND LOOKING CLUELESS ON THE SIDELINES

Oakland Raiders head football coach Tom Cable is taking a lot of heat in the Bay area over a trick play gone wrong. In yesterday’s 20-13 loss to the pathetic Kansas City Chiefs, Cable called for a gadget hook-and-ladder play where punter Shane Lechler was supposed to hit “chubby” kicker Sebastian Janikowski with a pass on a fake field goal.

The play was doomed from the start. Lechler ended up tossing a lateral that was scooped up by Chiefs defender Maurice Leggett and returned for a KC touchdown. The play was a 10-point swing in a seven point Raiders loss.

Gary Peterson of the Contra Costa Times called the play a defining moment in what was an “elimination game.” Not for the Raiders, but for their interim coach. Peterson’s story featured the headline,

“Raiders’ Cable may be mad, but he’s no genius.”

Ouch! It’s uncertain who the next Raiders head coach will be. One safe bet: It won’t be anyone from the University of Idaho named “Tom.” Both Cable and oft-ridiculed “bed and breakfast” offensive coordinator Tom Walsh came from the same University of Idaho coaching tree. Walsh was blissfully running a bed and breakfast when Raiders coach Art Shell called him to be Oakland’s offensive coordinator in 2006. Walsh hadn’t had an NFL job in 12 years and hadn’t spent one minute coaching during the entire decade. He was an easy scapegoat for the Raiders 2-14 record and horrendous offense that season.

TOM CABLE IS THE NEW SCOTT LINEHAN

The Oakland Raiders finally pulled the trigger and fired beleagured head coach Lane Kiffin today.

Kiffin’s replacement is Tom Cable  who was named interim coach of the Raiders. Cable has a horrifically bad record as a head coach. He was 11-35 with the University of Idaho from 2000-2003. Idaho is, of course, the alma mater of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. She was at the school when the Vandals were voted the country’s Number One party school by Playboy magazine.

SARAH PALIN: PARTY ANIMAL

Raider fans will be encouraged to know that Idaho is the same school that famously produced Tom Walsh. He’s the bed-and-breakfast coordinator who ran Art Shell’s offense.

Idaho is also the coaching tree where Scott Linehan got his start. He was Idaho’s starting quarterback under Dennis Erickson.
