Former UCLA basketball coach John Wooden died Friday at the age of 99. The coaching legend spent most of the week in a California hospital in “grave” condition suffering from dehydration and a variety of ailments. However, as of Friday afternoon, Wooden was still alive.
Unfortunately, the Washington Post already ran his obituary online on Wednesday, a full two days before Wooden actually died. The Post embarrassingly had to retract the article. Wooden won 10 national championships at UCLA including seven in a row. He is considered by many the greatest coach (of any sport) who ever lived.
