URBAN MEYER COVERS SPREAD PISSES OFF MIAMI

Anyone who thinks that college football coaches aren’t aware of the Vegas line for their games is delusional.

Big time college football coaches keep or lose their jobs by keeping alumni happy. Those alums BET on football games.

The latest and most blatant example of a college football coach running up the score to win the faithful a couple of bucks happened this weekend.

Florida was leading instate rival Miami late in their game Saturday. Gators coach Urban Meyer chose to kick a field goal with just :48 seconds left. Why would he do that and run the score up?

Simple. Money.

That field goal ended up making a lot of money for the Florida faithful. The spread on the Florida/Miami game was 21-23 points at most casinos and offshore books. That late field goal gave Florida a 26-3 win and put the Gators up by 23.

Meyer’s excuse following the game of “getting his kicker some work” was complete b.s. He kicked the field goal to make the alumni happy and cover the spread. Period.

Following the loss, Miami coach Randy Shannon was livid. Obviously, his school has never pandered to alumni or run up a score.
