As Deadspin.com notes, it’s been a “tough couple of days” for former NFL stars who are alum of The U, who also happen to be former Dancing With The Stars contestants and are current NFL Network employees. Particularly in their interactions with women in south Florida. Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin was accused of rape earlier in the week and lost his ESPN Radio job. Yesterday, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star defensive lineman Warren Sapp was arrested on domestic violence charges.
According to a police report, Sapp pushed his girlfriend of the past two years during a 5:00 AM argument in a Miami hotel room. The woman suffered bruises on her neck during the incident. Sapp has been suspended by the NFL Network. Irvin has not.
