CHARLES BARKLEY’S SWEATY MUGSHOT

Former NBA star Charles Barkley was arrested for suspicion of DUI in Arizona early Wednesday morning.

TheDirty.com got a copy of Barkley’s bar tab.  He ordered six bottles of liquor and the bill came to over $2,100. The best part about this story? Barkley was reported by TMZ.com to be partying with Urkel.

WHO’S MORE UNLIKEABLE THAN DANE COOK? TRY HIS BROTHER

December 31, 2008

COMEDIAN DANE COOK

Let’s face it. Swarmy, overrated comedian Dane Cook is not a very likeable guy. That still doesn’t make it ok for his financial manager to steal all his money. Especially since said financial manager was Cook’s own BROTHER.

Cook’s brother was arrested today by Massachusetts authorities and charged with stealing millions of dollars from the comedian.I don’t know what’s more disturbing about this story: 1) a guy would steal from his own brother or 2) Dane Cook has apparently made millions of dollars in the free market as a “comedian.”

MIKE SHANAHAN FIRED

MIKE SHANAHAN

After 14 years and a pair of Super Bowl Championships Mike Shanahan has been fired as coach of the Denver Broncos.

The story is shocking on its own, but even more so in that it was originally reported by a little-known blog called the National Football Post. Shanahan’s job seemed to  be safe. Even though the Broncos lost their last three games to blow a playoff spot, Shanahan enjoyed a close relationship with Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and had almost $20 million left on his contract. Many doubted that Bowlen would ever fire Shanahan.

Obviously, Shanahan wasn’t the Broncos “coach for life” many thought.

HOPE JACOBY: LATEST IN A LINE OF HOT BLONDE SEX CRIMINALS

Congratulations to Hope Jacoby of San Juan Capistrano, California. She’s about to be famous.

Actually, “infamous” may be a better choice of words. The 23-year-old high school trainer was arrested and had her picture plastered on the covers of the LA Times for being a sex criminal (on Christmas Day no less.) Jacoby was arrested on charges of “suspicion of oral copulation” of a minor and having sex with a minor. Jacoby allegedly had sex with a varsity athlete from her employer, Tustin High School in Orange County.

Every sports blog and website on the face of the earth has rushed to this story including Busted Coverage, The Big Lead, With Leather, Badjocks, Deadspin , Barstool Sports (NSFW headline), etc.

HOPE JACOBY MYSPACE PICTURE

Thanks to the internet, Miss Jacoby is going to be the most famous sex criminal in U.S. history. Although she may live to be 100 and go on to do many great things with her life, Brook Jacoby will forever be linked with the phrase “oral copulation with a minor.” She could cure cancer and THAT’S not going away.

NEW YORK POST COLUMNIST WON’T STAND FOR THE USE OF THE WORD “SCUMBAG” (UNLESS IT’S IN HIS OWN PAPER)

December 30, 2008

Strahan Fox Football

THE ENTIRE FOX TV CREW CAN AGREE ON ONLY ONE THING- BRADSHAW IS A “SCUMBAG”

I happen to like New York Post sports media columnist Phil Mushnick. He is one of the few major writers who doesn’t take a paycheck from ESPN and therefore isn’t afraid to criticize them.

Where Mushnick often loses me though is when he pulls his faux moral outrage routine, like he did in Monday’s column. Mushnick went on a rampage over Fox announcers Terry Bradshaw and Howie Long use of the word “scumbag” on their Sunday pregame show.

Terry Bradshaw proudly proclaimed, “I am a scumbag!” during the opening of the Fox NFL Pregame Show Sunday. Bradshaw said he was openly rooting for the Detroit Lions to lose and go 0-16. Long jokingly agreed with Bradshaw, addressing him as, “Scumbag.”

You would think it was the end of Western Civilization as we know it.  Mushnick accused Fox of “ambushing” its national aufience with a “foul-mouthed” tirade. He even refused to write the phrase used by Bradshaw and Long, deeming it too offensive for New York Post readers. Mushnick, in an infantile gesture of prudism, wrote “s–bag'” leaving the reader to wonder if Bradshaw really HAD used a term deemed offensive by the FCC.

There’s only one problem with Mushnick’s misdirected outrage. The New York Post practically INVENTED the use of the term “scumbag.” In fact, it’s doubtful that any publication in the history of the English language uses the phrase MORE than the Post. Certainly, not Fox television. Just recently, Post columnist Andrea Peyser called a cop killer a “scumbag” in her October 16th column. For the record, The Post didn’t edit her remarks as “s–bag.” That would be the same column where Peyser used the phrase “pissing on the grave” of a New York City cop. Where was Mushick’s arguing to save-the-children when that column came out? Maybe I didn’t get the memo that made Phil Mushnick the moral arbitrator for America.

Maybe Mushnick missed that particular column, but the Post also just referred to Peter Cook (Christie Brinkley’s ex-husband) as a “scumbag” in print. And, do you know why? Because Peter Cook IS a “scumbag.” Just like someoneone who shoots cops and then “pisses” on their graves. It’s a perfectly accurate and descriptive word that conveys a thought.  Obviously, Mushnick’s employers at the Post don’t find the term so objectionable.

The use of the phrase “scumbag” has been on network television at least since Hill Street Blues signed on almost 20 years ago. Mushnick would be just as relevant if he were to lash out against “talkies” or crusade for tv to return to an all black and white format. He just comes across as old. Besides, if the term really is so offensive, why does his own paper use it? I know half the kids in New York can’t read, but if a term is too “foul-mouthed” and objectionable to possibly be heard on Sunday television, then it’s also too offensive to be delivered on the doorsteps of these same mythical New York children who may be harmed by the same phrase appearing in the New York Post.

Besides there is already a list of almost 1,200 words that the NFL ALREADY has deemed offensive and banned. These include such vile words as “Las Vegas.” I doubt adding another couple of words to that list makes this a better country. Phil Mushnick had better just shut the hell up and worry about his own employer.

MINNEAPOLIS AIRPORT RESTROOM WHERE IDAHO SENATOR SOUGHT GAY SEX IS LOSING ITS ALLURE AS A TOURIST SPOT

PUBLIC RESTROOM WHERE SEN. LARRY CRAIG SOLICITED GAY SEX

The Associated Press has a story today about how the men’s room at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport where Idaho Republican Senator Larry Craig was arrested in a sex sting is “losing its appeal” as a tourist destination.

Although sexual activity in the restroom has apparently dropped since Sen. Craig’s arrest, regular BATHROOM activity hasn’t slowed down. The Craig restroom is still the airport’s busiest.

LADAINIAN TOMLINSON: ALREADY MAKING EXCUSES TO MISS HIS NEXT PLAYOFF GAME

First the good news. The San Diego Chargers steamrolled the Denver Broncos 52-21 in their season finale. The win miraculously puts San Diego in the NFL playoffs with a less-than-impressive 8-8 record.

In Sunday’s win, running back LaDainian Tomlinson looked like his old, MVP self with three touchdown runs. However, after the game, Tomlinson was already talking about possibly sitting out next weekend’s playoff game for the Chargers. Tomlinson apparently suffered an abdominal injury in the win over Denver.

NBC sideline reporter Andrea Kremer TWICE gave Tomlinson the ability to say he would play against the Colts next weekend in the playoffs. Instead, Tomlinson twice said he “hopefully” could go but would not commit to playing saying he needed to get “checked out” and he wanted to “make sure everything’s ok.”

Tomlinson was blasted by former NFL players Emmitt Smith and Jamie Dukes this past offseason. Both questioned Tomlinson’s character after he missed the Chargers playoff game against New England last year.
