RADMANOVIC TRADED: IT MUST BE THE SHOES

VLADIMIR RADMANOVIC

It’s no secret that Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson hated European forward Vladimir Radmanovic who was traded to the Charlotte Bobcats over the weekend for Adam Morrison.

Jackson already despised Radmanovic for what he perceived as a lack of professionalism and work ethic. A weekend article by Kevin Ding of the Orange County Register revealed what was the final straw for Radmanovic and his troubled Lakers career. The ditzy forward actually attended Lakers practice Friday wearing Vans.

Vans are snowboarding shoes that are also popular with skaters. Snowboarding and Radmanovic are a sensitive topic with the Lakers front office anyway since the forward suffered a snowboarding injury during the 2007 All-Star break then lied about it to the club. When the Lakers found out that they probably couldn’t void Radmanovic’s contract over the incident, they fined him $500,000 instead. Radmanovic has been a marked man with the Lakers ever since.

This weekend the Lakers leapt at the opportunity to dump Radmanovic, pick up a guy who was a lottery pick just three years ago (Morrison,) and lower their payroll.

Phil Jackson had a rough homecoming in Chicago, but he may not be safe in the Staples Center, either.
