THE HANSON BROTHERS

Slap Shot is the greatest sports movie of all time. The iconic hockey movie starred Paul Newman as the player-coach of a minor league hockey team. One of the themes of the movie is the fighting Hanson Brothers, the lovable goons who help turn around the fortunes of Newman’s club.

The Hanson Brothers are so popular to this day (the movie is over 30-years-old) that they are still touring and making public appearances. Therefore, it was big news today (at least in Canada) when the Toronto Maple Leafs signed the son of Dave Hanson (the Hanson Brother on the far left of the above photo.)

CHRISTIAN HANSON

Christian Hanson just finished his fourth season as a hockey player at Notre Dame. The six-foot-four, 228 pound Hanson had 16 goals in 37 games for the Fighting Irish this season. Since he’s a member of the  Hanson family, the emphasis was probaby on the “fighting.”
