Chris Brown of the website put it perfectly-NFL teams claim they want smart players with good character. Just not TOO smart. Brown details the Myron Rolle case which is a complete travesty and and one of the biggest embarrassments in the history of the National Football League.

Rolle was the highest ranked high school player in the country in 2006. He signed with Florida State where he became an All-American safety. Famed Seminoles defensive coordinator Mickey Andrews called Rolle the “best and most complete” safety he’s ever coached. Rolle had a 3.75 GPA and graduated from college in just 2 and 1/2 years.

Unfortunately, Rolle’s stock in the NFL Draft is apparently plummeting. Last season, following his early graduation, Rolle was named a Rhodes Scholar. He spent 2009 studying Pre-Med at Oxford. NFL teams are universally holding Rolle’s Rhodes Scholarship against him. At the combine, Rolle was interviewed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (a team filled with terrible football players many of whom are stupid AND have bad character.) According to, one of the first questions Tampa Bat asked Rolle was, “Why did you abandon your teammates? (to take a Rhodes Scholarsip.)”

Unbelievable. NFL teams are now questioning Rolle’s dedication to football even though he has returned to America and given up his studies and a guaranteed career as a doctor in order to play in the NFL. Apparently, teams are now questioning Rolle’s “committment.” Rolle has been projected as a “final day” late round pick.

Rolle has hired Tom Shaw as a personal trainer. Shaw has trained 118 former first round picks including players from Deion Sanders to Peyton Manning to Chris Johnson. He has coached the last NINE Super Bowl MVPs. Shaw RAVES about Rolle.
