BILL LEAVY: STAND-UP GUY OR INCOMPETENT STOOGE?
NFL referee Bill Leavy didn’t even have to be asked. In the Seattle area to ref a Seahawks practice, Leavy admitted that he personally cost the team the Super Bowl in 2006.
Leavy told the media that he “kicked” a couple late calls in the Seahawks 21-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and “impacted” the game in Super Bowl XL. Leavy even said he’s “lost sleep” and “will go to my grave” with regrets over his blown calls.
Naturally, Leavy’s admission is big news in Seattle where quarterback Matt Hasselbeck called Leavy a “stand-up guy.”
