At least now we know why Fox News has done so many hit pieces on Gawker Media lately. came out with a “bombshell” article today about Fox News personality Bill O’Reilly and his personal vendetta against a Long Island cop who is currently screwing his wife. Gawker has all the personal details of a revenge-seeking O’Reilly threatening to withold a multi-million dollar donation to the Nassau County Police Department after one of their detectives was found to be having an affair with Mrs. Bill O’Reilly.

Gawker details how O’Reilly and two of his private detectives attempted to use his county’s police force for retribution and conducting an official investigation into the cop who is now living with O’Reilly’s wife. O’Reilly apparently sought to have the detective investigated by an elite internal affairs investigative force even though he apparently never did anything illegal. He just got caught screwing Bill O’Reilly’s wife.

The story hasn’t received much play from traditional media but has been an Internet sensation. The Daily Beast, Slate, Adweek, Forbes , the Huffington Post and an online blog for the Washington Post have all jumped on the story. O’Reilly has not commented on the story but Fox News has called the Gawker piece “lies.”

Brazilians dominate UFC 134

August 28, 2011

Anderson Silva retained his middleweight championship with a dominant win over Yushin Okami at UFC 134 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Saturday night. Silva has been the UFC champion since 2006. His 14-match winning streak is the longest in Ultimate Fighting Championship history. In fact, the last fight that Silva suffered was to Okami in January of 2006 and he only lost that match because he was unaware of the rules. Silva kicked Okami in the face from the guard position and was disqualified. That fight was Silva’s UFC debut. He has yet to lose again in UFC. Last night’s win avenges Silva’s only UFC loss. At the time of his first loss to Okami, Silva had called the fighter’s first win against him “cowardly.”

Other fights on last night’s UFC 134 card featured Mauricio Rua defeating former light heavyweught champion Forrest Griffin and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira knocking our Brendan Schaub.

Next month, at UFC 135 in Denver, light heavyweight champion Jon Jones defends his belt against current movie star Rampage Jackson. Also on that card, fan favorite Diego Sanchez will battle Hall of Famer Matt Hughes and veteran Nick Diaz takes on former Pride champion Gomi.

Gilbert Arenas was right

August 27, 2011

Former Georgia Tech star and NBA player Javaris Crittenton is being sought by police on murder charges. Crittenton is accused of killing a 23-year-old woman. Crittenton allegedly shot at a man he spotted walking on an Atlanta street last week, believing him to be the man who robbed him in April. The female victim, a mother of four, was a completely innocent bystander, who just happened to be walking down the street at the time. Also, the man Crittenton intended to shoot wasn’t the guy who robbed him.

You may remember the ridiculous gun incident that actually sent NBA funnyman Gilbert Arenas to jail for a brief period of time in 2010. In that debacle, Arenas was in a gun-fueled confrontation with then-teammate Crittenton over a gambling debt.

Lenny Dykstra is apparently a pervert as well as a thief

August 26, 2011

Former Major League Baseball player Lenny Dykstra has been arrested for exposing himself to women he met online. Dykstra had advertised on Craigslist for a “personal assistant.” He is accused of exposing his genitals to the women while “interviewing” them.

Dykstra is still facing criminal charges for bankruptcy fraud. He also allegedly stole a car and was in possession of drugs earlier this year. That marks quite a fall for the former Mets and Phillies star who was once hailed as a stock market picking savant by notorious CNBC host Jim Cramer.

ESPN in trouble for controversial “What if Michael Vick were white?” article

August 26, 2011

ESPN doesn’t do many controversial stories. However, ESPN The Magazine is drawing heat for a story they ran entitled, “What if Michael Vick were White?”

The story created enough of a firestorm that The Worldwide Leader originally pulled the above controversial photoshopped image of a white Michael Vick. They later re-posted it. Even nonsports media outlets like Time, CNN, and USA Today jumped on the White Michael Vick story.

Even more hilarious was a response article by Black Sports Online entitled, “What if Tom Brady was black?”

Shot of smallest crowd in Major League history

August 25, 2011

With Hurricane Irene possibly bearing down, Wednesday’s baseball game between the Florida Marlins and Cincinnati Reds had an unofficial attendance of just 347 fans. That would be a new low for fan attendance in MLB history. However, the official attendance for the game will be listed at 10,000 plus-the actual number of tickets sold. Not the number of fans who really attended the game.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries made an $18 million profit off their wedding

August 21, 2011

The much-hyped wedding between celebrity reality tv star Kim Kardashian and her NBA basketball player husband Kris Humphries cost a reported $8 million. What has been less publicized is that the couple reportedly made $18 million on the event and paid virtually zero of that eight million.

Darren Rovell of CNBC reports that Kardashian and Humphries were payed a combined $17.9 million for the “media rights” to the wedding. This includes $15 million from E! TV wich is airing a two-part rebroadcast of the wedding called “Kim’s Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event,” an additional $2.5 million from People Magazine for the wedding pictures, and $300,00 for an article from People announcing the couple’s engagement. Good news because Humphries is currently unemployed with the NBA lockout. Kardashian was also payed by Tao nightclub in Las Vegas to have her bacherlorette party there and by Ok! magazine for bridal shower pictures.

One gossip site adds that the couple also got tons of “free crap” from various corporate sponsors. According to the New York Post, the free crap included Kardashian’s wedding dress, the wedding cake, and free rental of the estate where the couple got married. Also free was the wedding’s champagne, floral arrangements and catering which included caviar and Kobe beef. The couple was also comped the decorations and the wedding invitations. Somebody else also paid for the musical acts which included Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind, and Fire.

Darren Rovell hilariously points out that Humphries made $17.9 million off the wedding compared to $16.9 million off his entire seven-year basketball career. Wedding guests included Ryan Seacrest, Kathie Lee Gifford, Lindsay Lohan, Carmelo Anthony and Eva Longoria.
