ACCUSED DUKE LACROSSE PLAYER OWES IRS $6.5 MILLION

February 25, 2011

Former Duke lacrosse player Reade Seligmann is NOT a rapist. He is, however, apparently a tax cheat. Seigmann was one of the Duke lacrosse players who was originally charged with rape but eventually exonerated after being accused by a stripper in a racially charged case that went to trial in 2007.

The Detroit News says Seligmann owes the IRS almost $6.5 million in back taxes. Seligmann’s lawyer said specifically the money is NOT owed from money earned in his settlement of a lawsuit from the case and is owed for the year 2007. According to an IRS expert interviewed by the paper, in order for Seligmann to owe that much money to the IRS, he would have to have earned at least $20 million dollars that year.

IF YOU LOOK AT THE BOTTOM OF CRYSTAL GAIL MANGUM’S FOOT, SHE’S WEARING A COURT-MONITORED ANKLE BRACELET

You may not remember the name Crystal Gail Mangum. You probably remember the rape case a couple years ago involving the Duke lacrosse team. Mangum, a stripper and escort at the time, falsely accused several members of the lacrosse team. That led to one of the most bungled rape prosecutions in U.S. history. Then D.A. Mike Nifong then ended up having ethics charges leveled against him and ended up resigning in disgrace.

Now, Mangum is appealing to the media to help her out. The punchline is that Mangum says she has been falsely accused by autorities of a crime she never committed. Gawker.com calls Mangums literal backyard performance yesterday “the world’s weirdest press conference.” She is accused of attempting to murder her paranoid schizophrenic boyfriend.

Even the New York Times, which originally hyped the false charges, marveled at Duke capturing this year’s NCAA lacrosse title.
