Senator Carl Lewis?

April 11, 2011

Carl Lewis

CARL LEWIS

Former Olympic great Carl Lewis officially started his political career Monday. Lewis announced his candidacy for the New Jersey state Senate. Lewis tied an all-time record with nine Olympic medals. He was undoubtedly one of the greatest track and field athletes in history.

Despite his Olympic success, Lewis never caught on with the public. He was goose egged in endorsements, many believe because of rumors of his homosexuality. Lewis was also tied to performance enhancing drugs though he never tested positive during the Olympics. Personal scandal? Being called “arrogant” and egotistical? Unliked by the mass public? Sounds like perfect political material.

RENEE RICHARDS IS A TRANSGENDER DOUCHEBAG

DR. RENEE RICHARDS

It turns out the sports world’s first ever transgender professional athlete is a giant hypocrite.

Tennis player Richard Raskin stunned the sports world in the 1970’s when he underwent a sex change operation and decided to compete on the WOMENS professional tennis tour. The newly christened Renee Richards went to court in New York and sued for the right to play tennis as a woman. She won.

Now, some 32 years later, Richards has done an interview with Gregg Doyel of CBSsports.com where she says female track star Caster Semenya should be barred from international competition because she “is too mannish.”

That’s some serious hypocrisy. Worse, Richards is actually a doctor. Her contention is if Semenya was “fueled by” abnormally high levels of testosterone (even if she was born with them) this gives her an unfair advantage over other female runners:

“You’re going to develop a skeleton and a muscle mass and a type of muscle that is different from that of a normal woman.”

Geeze, kind of like if she was BORN A MAN.

Nevertheless, Richards concludes that Semenya should be banned.

Renee Richards may not have been much of a tennis player, but this puts her in the Hall of Fame of hypocrisy.

SOUTH AFRICA CRIES RACISM OVER MANNISH RUNNER: “WHO ARE WHITE PEOPLE TO QUESTION AN AFRICAN GIRL?”

August 26, 2009

SOUTH AFRICA SEMENYA'S RETURN

CASTER SEMENYA

Caster Semenya is now the most famous female track athlete in the world. That is IF Semenya is indeed a female.

Controversy has raged since Semenya won the 800 meter women’s race at the World Championships in Berlin this month. After Semenya destroyed her competition, international track officials ordered her to undergo a “gender identification” test. Semenya now has to prove she’s a woman. Critics contend Semenya is really a man. British bookmakers are even taking bets on the topic. You can actually bet money on whether you think Semenya is a man, a woman, or a hermaphrodite.

This despite the fact that Semenya has a birth certificate proclaiming her a woman, has passed two previous gender tests and has SHOWN officials her vagina. Not good enough. The IAAF has ordered the gender test saying, “Private parts do not answer the question.”

Tuesday, the teen-aged Semenya returned to South Africa where she was cheered as a conquering hero. Thousands of fans greeted her at the airport. A multitude of South African politicians and track officials have also come to Semenya’s aide. One cried racism saying, “Who are white people to question the makeup of an African girl? It is racism.”

Semenya’s defenders say her deep voice and masculine features are the result of a naturally occuring high level of testosterone produced by her own body. Yeah…about that: Some say Semenya may very well be a woman. A woman on steroids. Her coach is Ekkart Arbeit. He was once a womens track coach in East Germany.

Arbeit is one one the most disgraced figures in track and field history. He was one of the primary culprits from the bad old days of Olympic cheating by the East Germans. One of Arbeit’s former shot putters describes how he pumped her so full of steroids that she eventually just gave up and underwent a sex change operation to become a man. It was because of Arbeit and East Germany’s tactics that the Olympics implemented gender testing in the first place during the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. The East Germans regularly tried to pass men off as women in the Olympics. Once East Germany went away as a country, the practice of gender testing athletes was discontinued in 1999. Arbeit swears he hasn’t done anything wrong since 1989.

One other interesting note from Seneya’s public appearance on Tuesday-she was introduced on-stage by the “highly controversial” ex-wife of Nelson Mandela. Winnie Madikizela-Mandela is an accused murderer and convicted swindler.

WILLIE GAULT

Former NFL and track star Willie Gault is now 48-years-old. Nevertheless, he is still competing in track events and setting records.

Most sports fans will remember Gault as a former NFL first round draft pick who was a wide receiver with the Super Bowl champion Chicago Bears. He was also an Olympic sprinter. Gault was also a member of the U.S. team that boycotted the Olympics in 1980. He also competed in the Winter Olympics as a bobsledder.

Gault recently ran a 100-meter time that was just seven tenths of a second off his career best-a time he set almost 30 years ago. Gault also ran a 4.27 in the 40-yard dash. That time is so insane that it is faster than any wide receiver, cornerback or running back at the combine in this year’s NFL Draft. In fact, Gault is faster than any player in this year’s draft, and he’s more than 25 years older than those athletes.

Gault is also working as an actor these days. He has several dozen credits and has appeared in shows like The West Wing and Baywatch.

HIGH JUMPER ACCUSED OF DRINKING VODKA AND RED BULLS DURING TRACK MEET

September 6, 2008

IVAN OKHOV

Rival high jumpers have accused Ivan Ukhov of drinking vodka and Red Bulls during a competition in Switzerland this week. Organizers of the track meet were reportedly so angry with Ukhov that they refused to pay his travel expenses and have asked for a tape of the event.

Ukhov was talked into dropping out of the meet after missing every jump he made. Alcohol is not considered a “performance enhancing” drug and is not technically illegal and therefore not prohibited in internationally sanctioned track meets.
