BASEBALL CARD GEEKS BUSTED BY FEDS

Over the last 15 years, the Chicago FBI has launched three investigations into the sale of fraudulent sports memorabilia. This latest probe focuses on some of the industry's more prominent dealers.

For the third year in a row, the FBI has raided the National Sports Collectors Convention.

Fraud, forgery and ripoffs are apparently rampant in the sports memorabilia industry according to today’s New York Post.

TOPPS BECOMES THE ONLY BASEBALL CARD COMPANY LEFT

The New York Times is one of several media sources reporting that Topps has signed an exclusive deal to become the “official” trading card of Major League Baseball.

The deal will make Topps the only company to be able to use MLB teams and logos on its cards.

Topps is currently owned by former Disney head Michael Eisner. Right now, Upper Deck also makes baseball trading cards but this deal effectively puts them out of business.
