COLE HAMELS BLASTED AS A HOMOPHOBE FOR “CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 2” PERFORMANCE

COLE HAMELS

Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels is being derided as a “homophobe” for a secret acronym he placed in a taped video game message.

In October, Hamels taped the apparently hilarious faux PSA for an organization called “Fight Against Grenade Spam” shown below. It decries the use of random grenades in the video game “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.” The video received rave reviews and high ratings on YouTube.

Unfortunately, somebody on the Internet finally figured out that the letters in Hamel’s fake organization stood for “F*A*G*S.” The online video has been pulled by the video game’s manufacturer.

PHILLIES PITCHERS HAMELS, MYERS SCRAP

BRETT MYERS AND COLE HAMELS

Apparently, Brett Myers doesn’t fight only women.

According to a story by Yahoo! Sports, Myers and fellow Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels had a locker room altercation following Game Five of the World Series. Myers was walking by Hamels as he was dressing. He asked Hamels, “What are you doing here? I thought you quit.”

Hamels had to be restrained from going after Myers by several teammates. Myers was led out of the Phillies locker by a team official.

The scuffle ruined the good mood in the Phillies clubhouse and came fresh off an 8-6  victory over the New York Yankees to force a World Series Game Six. Myers’ comments were in reference to an interview Hamels gave recently. Hamels said he “couldn’t wait” for this season to end. Hamels, a postseason star on the Phillies World Championship team last year, suffered through a mediocre 2009 regular season. He also has a 7.58 ERA in this year’s postseason.

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel was mystified by the altercation, saying it “surprised” him. Hamels said repeatedly in the same interview that he wanted to pitch Game Seven if the World Series goes that far.
