Seattle Times comes out in favor of marijuana legalization

The largest newspaper in the state of Washington has endorsed House Bill 1550. If passed, that bill would legalize marijuana throughout the entire state. In a recent editorial, the Seattle Times stated categorically stated, “Marijuana should be legalized, regulated, and taxed.”

In 1998, Washington was one of the first states to pass medical marijuana legislation. In 2003, Seattle voted to make simple marijuana possession “the lowest police priority.” Last year, Seattle’s City Attorney stopped all prosecutions of simple marijuana possession.

The Times estimates that Washington could raise $300 million each year by legalizing pot.

A store calling itself “a supply and training destination for legal pot growers” has opened in Sacramento. The parent company and the store are called “weGrow,” WeGrow is marketing its 10,000 square foot Sacramento store to medical marijuana users in California.

The store says it has everything you need to grow marijuana. Although it doesn’t actually sell pot, it has plants on “display” throughout the store.

LEGAL MARIJUANA SHOPS ARE HUGE IN DENVER

Welcome to the Mile HIGH City.

The local ABC tv station points out that there are now officially more Marijuana dispenseries in Denver than there are Starbucks in the entire state of Colorado.

Channel 7 points out that there are now 390 pot shops in Denver making it “America’s Cannabis Capital.” Over 200 marijuana dispenseries opened in Denver last month alone.

Portfolio.com has an article detailing how politicians in Colorado see selling government issued licenses for marijuana shops as a way of raising revenues. A Denver paper even hired a marijuana critic recently.

Medical marijuana is legal in Colorado. There is even an “Official State Portal” where Colorado businesses can register as a licensed medical marijuana distributor.
