PARKING IN HANDICAPPED SPACE LEADS TO ARREST OF SAINTS SAFETY

September 5, 2009

New Orleans Saints safety Usama Young has been arrested for failing to appear in court on a charge of parking in a handicapped parking space. Young was pulled over for speeding this week while driving 55 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone. After he was stopped, police discovered an outstanding warrant on Young for the handicapped parking charge.

Young issued an apology to handicapped Saints fans today saying,

“”I am sincerely sorry. I will never park in those spots again. I know there is no excuse for my actions, but I promise it will never happen again.”

LONG SNAPPER’S FINANCIAL ADVICE COSTS SAINTS PLAYERS AND COACHES MILLIONS

KEVIN HOUSER: UNEMPLOYED NFL LONGSNAPPER/FINANCIAL GENIUS

Here’s some career advice. NEVER tell your boss how to invest his money. Particularly, when your advice costs him six figures.

Long snapper Kevin Houser had been with the New Orleans Saints longer than anyone on the team. He had been with the club since being drafted in the seventh round of the 2000 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. This week he was cut by the Saints.

Pro Football Talk speculates about the reason Houser was cut. Perhaps, it was the $144,000 of his head coach’s money he lost.

Houser encouraged Saints coach Sean Payton and several of his teammates to invest millions of dollars in a Louisiana film company in what PFT is calling a “tax credit scheme.” Houser told teammates that the company was going to be awarded a state tax credit and that they wouldn’t have to pay taxes on money they invested in the company or the profits they made. Unfortunately, Houser was wrong. The company was never awarded the tax credit. Payton and multiple Saints players may now lose ALL the money they invested.

According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, two dozen current and former Saints players and coaches invested in the company, based on the advice of Houser. Combined, they stand to lose more than $2 million.

Saints quarterback Drew Brees and broadcaster/quarterback legend Archie Manning also reportedly lost money in the deal. Both apparently invested their money based on Houser’s recommendation.

CHEAPASS NEW ORLEANS SAINTS MAKE SEAN PAYTON PAY FOR NEW ASSISTANT COACH OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET

SEAN PAYTON

Jay Glazer of FoxSports featured this gem in his column yesterday, New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton was forced to come up with the extra $250,000 to hire the defensive coordinator he wanted out of his own pocket.

Gregg Wiliams was being courted by several NFL teams. Payton wanted Williams so badly he agreed to shift money off his contract this year and give it to the former Buffalo Bills coach. Saints owner Tom Benson refused to spring for the extra money to hire Williams. No wonder Saints players do things like spread feces on Benson’s cars.

BRAD CHILDRESS CLAIMS HE DIDN’T REALLY WANT TO KICK TO REGGIE BUSH

October 7, 2008

BRAD CHILDRESS

Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress may be the most ineffectual man in the NFL. Even his own punter ignores him.

Childress went nuts at his Tuesday press conference. He lambasted his team’s punter, Chris Kluwe, for repeatedly kicking the ball to New Orleans Saints kick returner Reggie Bush. Bush tied an NFL record by returning two punts for long touchdown runs. Nevertheless, Minnesota won the game 30-27.
