TRACTOR TRAYLOR

The condition of former college basketball star Robert “Tractor” Traylor has stabilized. He’s dead.

Traylor apparently suffered a “massive heart attack” in Puerto Rico. The former Michigan star and NBA journeyman was known for a couple of things: 1.) according to the FBI, Traylor was paid $616,000 in cash from former bookie-rurned-friend-of-the-program Ed Martin while attending Michigan as an “amateur” athlete and 2.) he faced the possibility of DECADES in prison for financing his cousin-the biggest drug dealer in Michigan history.

QUASAND LEWIS: TRAYLOR’S COUSIN AND “THE BIGGEST DRUG DEALER IN MICHIGAN HISTORY”

Former college basketball star and NBA first round pick Robert “Tractor” Traylor may be going to prison for a long, long time.

Traylor violated his probation on the tax and fraud charges he was convicted of in 2007. He idiotically didn’t file a tax return for 2008. Traylor also didn’t make payment arrangements with the IRS, to whom he owes $175,000. This despite the fact that he has made millions of dollars playing professional basketball. Believe it or not, Traylor made an astonishing $400,000 playing pro ball in Turkey and Puerto Rico the last two seasons.

The IRS was just looking for a reason to nail Traylor. His cousin , Quasand Lewis has been called “the biggest drug dealer in the history of Michigan.” There have been rumors for years that Traylor set up Lewis’ drug dealing enterprise with money he made from playing basketball. Lewis was convicted of shipping 33 TONS OF MARIJUANA into Detroit from 1994-2005. Authorities busted him with 25 tons of marijuana and over $15 million in cash. They say Lewis was selling $178 million worth of drugs a year and accounted for up to 50% of the drugs sold in Detroit.

THE FEDS CONVISCATED LITERALLY SUITCASES FULL OF CASH FROM QUASAND LEWIS – MONEY THAT WAS ALLEGEDLY LAUNDERED THROUGH TRACTOR TRAYLOR’S RENTAL PROPERTY

Unfortunately, not only was Lewis a criminal but he was also a VIOLENT criminal. Police confiscated more than 40 firearms when Lewis was arrested. He was at least partially responsible for making Detroit the murder capital of the U.S.

It’s literally a miracle that Traylor skated without facing any jail time in 2007. Not only did he pay for the rental properties that Lewis was dealing drugs out of, but Traylor tried to claim a tax deduction on the drug houses as a tax loss! Traylor claimed a $205,688 tax “loss” on the rental properties on his 2004 tax return. That’s how the Feds nailed him on tax fraud charges.

Traylor has a long history of shady dealings with money dating all the way back to high school. “Tractor” was in the same high school class as Kevin Garnett, Vince Carter and Paul Pierce. Not only was he a McDonald’s All-American, but Traylor was considered better than all of those players when he enrolled at Michigan. The only reason Traylor didn’t go straight into the NBA, like Garnett, was that he could make more money at Michigan. Seriously.

Here’s a great trivia question to impress your friends.

Q: How much money did Tractor Traylor make as an “amateur” basketball player?

A: $616,000

That’s how much money booster Ed Martin testified that he gave Traylor. Besides being a big University of Michigan basketball fan, Martin also happened to be the biggest bookie in Detroit. He gave Traylor and members of the Fab Five hundreds of thousands of dollars while they were in high school and later at Michigan. Money Martin himself said he got from illegal bookmaking. Court proceedings dragged out so long that Martin eventually dropped dead at the age of 69. Otherwise, you may have seen Michigan basketball players like Chris Webber going to jail. The FBI had perjury charges pending against Webber when Martin conveniently died.

Traylor is also the sole reason that Michigan basketball has been left in shambles following a decade worth of NCAA sanctions. Ironically, “Tractor” Traylor doomed Michigan hoops not because he took bags of money from a bookie, but because of his horrible driving skills. The NCAA never layed a glove on Michigan for the money their players took from Martin. The only violation that Martin was specifically cited for was giving a Michigan player an “illegal” birthday cake. However, when Traylor almost killed star recruit Mateen Cleaves by flipping his SUV the NCAA put the hammer on them.

Apparently even the NCAA frowns on your almost killing their star recruits. Even worse, Cleaves ended up going to Michigan State where he helped them win a title.
