GUESS WHICH RIGHT-WING TALKERS ARE CARD CARRYING MEMBERS OF THE AFL-CIO

February 25, 2011

If you’re a fan of Glenn Beck’s radio or tv shows you’ve probably heard him bash unions. Thursday, Beck accused AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka of being part of an international communist conspiracy to take over the world. While accusing Trumka of trying to take over the world, Beck at the same time is paying union dues-TO TRUMKA AND THE AFL-CIO.

Beck is a card carrying member of AFTRA (The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.) AFTRA is a division of the AFL-CIO.

Who else is a member of AFTRA? RUSH LIMBAUGH, Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, and Sarah Palin. Union members all. It’s how Sarah Palin can get residual money from her reality tv appearances. It’s also how people like Beck and Palin can obtain health insurance and make sure networks honot their contracts. They also provide technicians for all of Beck’s tv appearances as well Hannity and the others.

On another note, even the crazy Infowars dude is now hilariously accusing Beck of not only of ripping him off but doing so in an attempt to take over the world. That’s right, Glenn Beck is part of the One World government takeover. Alex Jones now says Beck’s whole UN and anti-Google schtick was completely stolen from him.

RUSH LIMBAUGH: WHITE MAN’S BURDEN

RUSH LIMBAUGH

The NFL’s rejection of talk show host Rush Limbaugh has become so politicized that the National Republican Trust issued a press relase today claiming that the “L” in NFL stands for “Liberal.” I’m sure that will be news to actual NFL owners, 22 of whom have actually donated the majority of their money to the Republican party. San Diego Chargers owner Alex Spanos alone contributed $2,414,427 to Republicans and virtually zero to Democrats. Ironically, the only NFL team that contributed more money to Democrats than Republicans is the St. Louis Rams.

Also, now that he’s been knocked out of any possibility of owning an NFL franchise, radio talker Limbaugh is being vindicated. Several media organizations (including CNN) have retracted some of the more inflamatory quotes on race attributed to Limbaugh.

Those racist quotes may have been the sole reason that Limbaugh was denied ownership of an NFL franchise. Now, it turns out that the quotes may not even be true. A quote where Limbaugh appears to endorse slavery was taken out of a Jack Huberman book entitled, “101 People Who are Really Screwing America.” That quote was used in a Bryan Burwell piece that ran in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Burwell was the first prominant columnist and African-American figure to come out against Limbaugh’s attempt to own the St. Louis Rams. Several legal experts have even indicated that Limbaugh has the grounds for a libel lawsuit.

Meanwhile, the Limbaugh controversy has become politically radioactive.. The National Republican Trust (a political action committee) issued their press release today. They called the NFL “liberal” despite the fact that, according to the website opensecrets.org,  six league owners have made six-figure political contributions-all of them to Republicans. The National Republican Trust also claimed that billionaire liberal icon and far-left political activist George Soros had replaced Limbaugh as a potential Rams minority owner. That has been vehemently denied by former Limbaugh potential business partner Dave Checketts. TheNFL and its clubs donated $7,276,198 to Republicans from 1989-2008.

Numerous opportunists are making hay out of the Limbaugh rejection including Karl Rove. Several media outlets have also decried Limbaugh’s treatment including The Wall Street Journal and even the liberal Huffington Post.

LIMBAUGH OFFICIALLY OUT AS POTENTIAL NFL OWNER

October 14, 2009

RUSH LIMBAUGH

Rush Limbaugh’s bid to become the owner of the NFL’s St. Louis Rams is over. NFL.com, the league’s official website, posted a story today saying the conservative radio host was dropped from a potential Rams ownership group headed by Dave Checketts. ESPN, Yahoo! and several other media sources confirmed the story of Limbaugh being dropped.

Limbaugh’s attempt to buy the Rams was blasted yesterday by NFL owner Jimmy Irsay and NBA owner Mark Cuban. Cuban wrote on his blog that the NFL “would be crazy” to consider approving Limbaugh as an owner. Even NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told the New York Times that Limbaugh’s “divisive comments” would not be welcome by the league.

Ironically, Limbaugh’s ouster took place on the same day that singer Fergie of  the Black Eyed Peas was named as a minority owner of the Miami Dolphins.

NFL UNION IS OUT TO GET RUSH LIMBAUGH

DEMAURICE SMITH

The National Football League Players Association came out over the weekend as officially opposing conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh’s effort to own the St. Louis Rams. Union head DeMaurice Smith not only voiced his displeasure over Limbaugh to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, but sent out a memo urging the league’s players to vocally oppose him. Smith has criticized a number of the talk show host’s past comments, which he feel are racially charged. Smith urged his players to oppose Limbaugh as “proud sons, fathers and spouses.”

In an e-mail, Smith contends that allowing Limbaugh into the NFL would mean “going backwards” for the league’s African-American players. Seven NFL players, all African-Americans, have already come out on record as opposing Limbaugh owning an NFL team.

Limbaugh and former NBA executive Dave Checketts are one of six groups to make a former purchase offer for the Rams. St. Louis lost over the weekend and has not won a football game in over a calendar year. Smith’s anti-Limbaugh crusade has received play nationally as well as in St. Louis.

Conservative blogs have responded by calling Smith and the union racist. That’s not going to help Limbaugh’s bid. Limbaugh has not commented publicly on the union’s stance yet. However, the NFL hates both publicity and controversy and Limbaugh’s controversial  past statements on race (not to mention his firing by ESPN over the Donovan McNabb fiasco) may very well cost him his dream-owning an NFL franchise.

SHOCKER: KEITH OLBERMANN DEFENDS RUSH LIMBAUGH’S ST. LOUIS RAMS OWNERSHIP BID

October 9, 2009

DON’T TELL ANYONE, BUT KEITH OLBERMANN ACTUALLY DEFENDED RUSH LIMBAUGH LAST NIGHT

Keith Olbermann is the most liberal host on television. Rush Limbaugh is the longtime conservative radio voice of the right. The two have sparred for years and openly insulted each other on numerous occassions. Yet, last night, Olbermann defended Limbaugh’s right to buy the St. Louis Rams.

Numerous columnists (many of them African-American) have written that Limbaugh should not be allowed to own an NFL team because of his previous racist comments. Even some NFL players are on record as saying they wouldn’t play for a Limbaugh-owned team. Olbermann, though, literally laughed at the idea of a “character test” for sports owners. He also pointed out that if the Rams lose this weekend they will have gone a full calendar year without a win. Olbermann then invited Limbaugh to “flush his money down a rat hole.”
