VINCE YOUNG’S FINAL PLAY AS TITANS QB?
Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young tore ligaments in his thumb in an overtime loss to the Washington Redskins Sunday. Young was replaced as Titans quarterback by obscure rookie Rusty Smith. However, even that was not the low point of his day.
Following the game, Young reportedly threw his jersey and shoulder pads into the stands. He also bolted the Titans locker room after after a testy five minutes. Enraged Titans coach Jeff Fisher fumed that Young had lost his job in his postgame press conference.
Have you ever noticed how the phrases “underachieving” and “pot smoker” often go together?
Mediocre NFL quarterback Chris Simms of the Tennessee Titans was arrested Thursday morning and charged with driving under the influence of drugs. Simms was stopped at a Manhattan police checkpoint after he was observed having a “flushed face” as well as “red eyes and slurred speech.”
A couple of weeks ago we had the story about Tennesse Titans running back LenDale White dropping 30 pounds this offseason. How did White drop that much eight? Was it some type of rigorous offseason training regime? Nope.
According to White himself, there is ONE REASON, and one reason only, why he dropped the weight. He quit drinking tequila.
“I was a big Patron consumer…that’s what it was. I was drinking a lot, drank a lot of alcohol. I cut that out of my diet all the way. I don’t drink at all. I cut the drinking, I stopped drinking for six months.”
But 30 pounds of tequila? According to Chris Chase of the Yahoo! football blog “Shutdown Corner,” there are 69 calories in each shot of Patron. Breaking out his calculator, Chase says it takes 3,500 calories to burn one pound of fat (IF, indeed, that were all White did to lose the weight, as he claims.) That would mean to lose the 30 pounds in 30 days that he did, White would have to knock out 500 calories a day. That means cutting out 7.5 shots of Patron per day.
For the first time in his pro (or college) career, Tennessee Titans running back LenDale White has worked hard in the offseason and dropped a ton of weight. White has lost at least 30 pounds since last season.
Pro Football Talk has an interesting item noting there are now concerns that White may have lost too much weight. Tennessee Titans running backs coach Earnest Byner was the first person on earth to raise the possibility that LenDale White may actually be TOO thin. Byner, a star NFL running back himself in the ’80s and ’90s, says a similar thing happened to him in his NFL career.
PFT points out that, despite his excess weight, White has statistically been one of the NFL’s best short yardage runners the past two seasons. Byner and others are worried that with White’s loss of weight will come a loss of power.
Following the Tennesse Titans first loss of the season to the New York Jets Sunday, running back LenDale White told a local television station he didn’t really know why the team lost because he wasn’t paying attention to the game.
“I couldn’t really tell you what happened (in the loss to the Jets), I have no idea. I wasn’t paying attention so I didn’t care.”
White had only one carry in the game. White suggested maybe the Titans would have won the game if he “would have gotten the ball 30 times.” To really understand what an ass LenDale White is, read the full article.
