ESPN talk show host Colin Cowherd was among those giving Washington Wizards rookie guard John Wall grief because he “spent 34 seconds” dancing during his pregame introduction Tuesday. Wall ended up with 29 points and 13 assists as the Wizards beat the Philadelphia 76ers.

Despite his record-setting quick start with the Wizards, the Cowherd feud and dancefest has garnered attention for Wall from various media outlets.

TURNS OUT JOSH HOWARD DRANK HIS WAY OUT OF DALLAS

February 20, 2010

Apparently, NBA player Josh Howard likes his booze as much as he he does his weed.

Several reports say that Howard was so hung over, after drinking all night, that he missed the Dallas Mavericks game against the Washington Wizards on January 20th. The Mavericks announced that Howard had missed the game with a “stomach flu.” Ironically, the Wizards are the team Howard was later traded to.

I’M GUESSING THERE WON’T BE ANY MORE MILK COMMERCIALS FOR JOSH HOWARD

GILBERT ARENAS HIT WITH FELONY GUN CHARGE

January 15, 2010

Washington Wizards player Gilbert Arenas will now face a felony gun possession charge. The U.S. Attorney’s office in Washington D.C. filed charges against Arenas for an incident last month where he brought four weapons into the Wizards locker room.

The Washington Post reported that Arenas and his lawyers had been in negotiations with the District Attorney’s Office in D.C. to try to strike a plea deal. Those attempts were unsuccesful.

DeShawn Stevenson

Washington Wizards guard DeShawn Stevenson may be in trouble with the NBA. Stevenson wore the words “agent” and “zero” taped to the shins above his socks during Sunday’s game at the Verizon Center in honor of his suspended teammate Gilbert Arenas. Arenas is currently serving an indefinite league suspension due to possible pending gun charges.

WIZARDS BEG FANS FOR FORGIVENESS

ANTAWN JAMISON TAKES TO THE MIC TO ASK FANS FORGIVENESS

Desperate to get some positive reaction from their fans and to start putting the Gilbert Arenas gun fiasco behind them, the NBA’s Washington Wizards had forward Antawn Jamison address fans before Friday night’s game. Jamison took to the microphone for 90 seconds and told the fans,

“On behalf of my teammates, this coaching staff, we know it’s been a trying week,” Jamison said. “One thing my teammates and I take very seriously is that being a positive role model is something we don’t take lightly. And there’s been a picture that’s been shown of us taking this event very lightly. This is a serious situation, it’s something we take to heart. We never meants to make light of the situation. And we’re going to do everything in our power, as long as I’m your captain and all these guys right here are my teammates, to make this one of the most respectable organizations in the league.”

“In order to make that happen, we need you guys to continue to support us. This thing here is very embarassing for my teammates and the coaching staff, but we’re going to do everything possible to make this one of the toughest places to play in, to make this an exciting place, but most importantly, a place where you can bring your kids, your families, your buddy, to come and have a good time.”

GILBERT ARENAS FOOLISHLY PANTOMIMES GUNPLAY BEFORE TUESDAY’S 76ERS GAME

Gilbert Arenas really screwed up. Again.

The NBA Wednesday announced they were suspending Arenas without pay indefinitely following an incident on December 21st where he apparently brought four guns to his place of work-the Washington Wizards basketball arena. That followed a confrontation with teammate Javaris Crittenton. The alleged gunplay is still being investigated by Washington D.C. and federal authorities. However, the final straw for NBA commissioner David Stern actually occurred Tuesday night when Arenas compounded the situation. He idiotically pantomimed shooting his teammates with his fingers during pregame introductions of the Wizards/Philadelphia 76ers game.

We all love Arenas because he’s crazy. Gilbert being Gilbert. However, once you introduce firearms and possible felony gun charges into the equation the laughter should cease. Arenas appeared to understand the severity of the situation he was in a statement issued on Monday. Unfortunately, those were just words (probably written by his lawyer.) Arenas blew it all with his actions Tuesday night. In reality, he had continued joking about the gun incident to the media and on his Twitter account. Arenas was so out of control that he was even criticized by famed civl rights leader Al Sharpton. Arenas was contrite in yet another prepared statement issued Wednesday following his suspension.

Arenas’ idiocy was prominently displayed on the pages of the Washington Post. It was all too much for Stern, who suspended Arenas on Wednesday saying he was “not currently fit to take the court in an NBA game.”
