It was revealed last month that Golden State Warriors guard Monta Ellis was injured in a “low speed moped accident,” not while working out as he originally claimed.
Today the Warriors suspended Ellis for 30 games “for violating Paragraph 12 of the Uniform Player Contract.” The suspension will cost him nearly $3 milllion in salary. The club says Ellis will be suspended until the December 17th game against Indiana. Basically, Ellis will not be paid for the time he’s injured and rehabbing his ankle because he lied to the team about how he got hurt.

Monta Ellis is 22 years old with a $66 million contract. After you deduct the $3 million he will lose this year, he still has $63 million. That is more money than most Americans will earn in 20 lifetimes.

The Warriors shouldn’t suspend him for half the season. They need him now more than ever because Harrington AND BD got traded.
