BOB KNIGHT LABELED A “FRAUD”

BOB KNIGHT: ANALYZING MARCH MADNESS FROM A LAS VEGAS SPORTSBOOK

When he was a college basketball coach, there’s no doubt that Bob Knight was one of the most polarizing figures in sports history. Various members of the media either loved or hated Knight depending on whether they bought into his schtick.

Now that Knight has retired from coaching, don’t think he’s settled down quietly or that he doesn’t still attract controversy. Gregg Doyel of CBSsports.com  has a column today where he destroys Knight for being “a fraud,” “a liar,” “two-faced” and a “hypocrite.” The reason for Doyel’s vitriol? Knight recently took a job as a college basketball analyst for Foxsports.net. During the NCAA tournament in March, Knight will be broadcasting from Las Vegas. More specifically, a sportsbook in Las Vegas.

Doyel acts like Knight broadcasting from Las Vegas is the end of the world. His readers clearly don’t agree. In an entire page of posts in the “Talk Back” section of CBSsportsline, not one person agreed with Doyel’s depiction of Vegas casinos as places that should be forbidden from hosting broadcasts for March Madness. Typical postings in response to Doyel’s article were titled, “ridiculous,” “pointless,” “Doyel is a jerk,” and “Why the hell do you write this crap?”

It should be pointed out that none of the posters really defended Knight.
