HEY KNICKS FANS, MIKE D’ANTONI IS SMARTER THAN YOU

October 31, 2008

MIKE D’ANTONI

The good news for New York Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni is that his team won their season debut with a 120-115 victory over the Miami Heat at the Garden. Having a winning record even for one day already makes this a more successful team than last year’s Knicks. Unbelievably, D’Antoni STILL managed to get into trouble.

MSG Network cameras caught D’Antoni mouthing curses at Knicks fans when a few of them began chanting for exiled guard Stephon Marbury to be inserted into the game. Cameras spotted D’Antoni who said,

“You’ve got to be (bleeping) kidding me. You’ve got to be (bleeping) kidding me. What a bunch of (bleep) holes.”

Naturally, the always helpful New York Post was right there to chime in on the story:

NOT THAT EDDIE JOHNSON

October 31, 2008

“FAST EDDIE”  JOHNSON

Ten-year NBA veteran Edward Lee Johnson Jr. was convicted yesterday of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl. Johnson now faces life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Known as “Fast Eddie” Johnson, the former All-Star point guard played mostly with the Atlanta Hawks. Unfortunately, there were two “Eddie Johnsons” who played in the NBA and the one who is NOT a pedaphile has often been confused with the other guy.

EDDIE “I’M NOT A CHILD MOLESTER” JOHNSON

The most famous case of misidentification was when ESPN announcer Skip Bayless (an expert on perps and molesters if ever there was one) blasted Johnson for his arrest and further identified him as somebody with a history of drug use and robbery. Bayless was filling in on the Jim Rome radio show. He knew Johnson, a University of Illinois product, from his years of covering sports in Chicago. Sadly, Johnson was completely and totally innocent. Bayless simply had the wrong Eddie Johnson. Several other news organizations picked up on Bayless’ false report and further slandered Johnson who ended up suing Bayless and several media outlets over the fiasco.

VEGAS LEGEND WAS AN FBI SNITCH

October 31, 2008

LEFTY ROSENTHAL

Controversial Las Vegas figure Lefty Rosental died earlier this month. Rosenthal was a Vegas legend.  He became famous after Robert De Niro’s portrayal of a fictional character based on his life in the 1995 movie Casino.

Thursday’s Las Vegas Review Journal featured a column by Jane Ann Morrison that makes the claim that Rosenthal, portrayed until now as a figure who stood up to the feds and never cooperated with them, was in actuality an FBI informant.

The Morrison piece claims Rosenthal was an informant for years. Despite being heavily involved in wiretapping and skimming operations at a number of Las Vegas casinos, Rosenthal was never charged. Even though a multitude of Las Vegas organized crime figures ended up in jail, Rosenthal actually had Las Vegas sheriff Ralph Lamb testify FOR him as a character witness.

Rosenthal’s involvement as a government informant may explain the famous 1982 car bombing which he survived.

“HUMAN PUNCHING BAG” RETIRES

October 31, 2008

PETER BUCKLEY: “THE HUMAN PUNCHING BAG”

Boxer Peter Buckley of England has announced his retirement. Never heard of Buckley? He is one of the biggest losers in sports history. Buckley has lost 256 professional fights including his last 88 matches. That’s more losses than any other fighter in the world.

In fact, Buckley has continued in the fine tradition of British athletes like Eddie “The Eagle.” He is a professional loser. Buckley’s specialty is being fodder for champions looking for a quick victory. He has lost to 42 boxers who were either current or future championship belt holders. Thus, leading to Buckley’s nickname, “The Human Punching Bag.”

Buckley plans to fight one final time to make it an even 300 fights in his career. A career in which he has not only been labeled, but PROMOTED, as “The World’s Worst Fighter.” Bentley has 31 wins, 265 losses and 12 draws in his lackluster career.  Buckley hasn’t won a fight in five years.
